Gender Resource Centre were established in Delhi with a view to Women Empowerment, considering the increasing immigration into Delhi consequent increasing involvement of women in jobs and workforce leading to heavily increased load on the women to manage both household and assist males of family in earnings.
These centres were envisioned to run in partnership with various NGOs and were meant to provide women with Social, Economic, Legal empowerment.
In March 2008, Cabinet approval was provided for Mission Convergence. In May 2008 Samajik Suvidha Sangam Society was registered under Society Act 1860 and finally on 14th August 2008 Samajik Suvidha Sangam was publicly launched.
Samajik Suvidha Sangam is meant to be delivered through already functional GRCs and this collaboration is meant to provide, under one roof, GRC facilities like vocational training, microfinance, legal awareness medical camps non-formal education, nutritional awareness and Suvidha Kendra facilities like information, awareness generation, identification & enrollment, verification & authentication, tracking, feedback & reporting, grievance redressal.
Novlok Welfare Society presently manages three GRC-SSK centres in Delhi—
- GRC-Stree Shakti Suvidha Kendra, Sant Nagar
- GRC-Stree Shakti Suvidha Kendra Extension Centre, Sangam Vihar
- GRC-Stree Shakti Suvidha Kendra, Chandni Chowk.
Through GRC-SSK, Novlok Welfare Society provides to the masses 48 schemes of Delhi Government spanning 9 departments.
